Terms of Use
Last updated: July 26, 2026
These terms apply to the GridPrice mobile app and the gridprice.app website (together, "GridPrice"), operated by James Patton. By using GridPrice you agree to these terms.
Prices are informational only
GridPrice displays electricity price data from public sources, including ComEd's Hourly Pricing program, Ameren Illinois Power Smart Pricing, ERCOT, NYISO, PJM, MISO, CAISO, ISO New England, SPP, and the Western EIM. This data is provided for information only:
- Prices shown are not billing-quality. Utilities finalize billed prices after the fact, and displayed values may be delayed, revised, or wrong.
- Prices shown are energy supply costs only. Your actual bill includes delivery charges, capacity charges, taxes, and other line items.
- Wholesale prices (everywhere outside Illinois's residential programs) are market index values, not your retail rate, unless your retail plan explicitly tracks them.
Do not rely on GridPrice for financial, billing, or trading decisions — including decisions about when to run appliances, heat or cool your home, or charge vehicles. Data feeds can be delayed, revised after the fact, or simply wrong, and a price shown as cheap may not be the price you are billed. Always confirm prices with your utility before acting on them.
No affiliation
GridPrice is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by ComEd, Ameren, ERCOT, NYISO, PJM, MISO, CAISO, ISO New England, SPP, the Western EIM, or any utility, retail electricity provider, or grid operator. All trademarks belong to their owners.
No warranty
GridPrice is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. Data feeds can break, lag, or disappear when upstream sources change. Alerts and widgets depend on your device's operating system and may be delayed or suppressed by battery management. We are not liable for any loss arising from use of GridPrice, including decisions made based on displayed prices, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Acceptable use
Don't abuse the GridPrice API or attempt to disrupt the service. Automated access at reasonable rates is fine; bulk scraping that degrades the service for others is not.
Changes
These terms may be updated as GridPrice evolves. The date above reflects the latest revision. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
